When Team Eat Review Repeat received an invite to review “The Chicken Story” like Sarthak, I decided to ignore the email & the conversation post that. Never expected this place to serve veg food but was pleasantly surprised know that their new menu included loads of veg stuff. I was unable to join the gang when most of them met for the review & decided to call for it later.
Since the kitchen is in Powai, the delivery happens in Andheri (e) , JVLR, Powai, Chandivali, Ghatkopar and Vikhroli. Andheri (e) was my delivery destination & the order included – Paneer Steak in mushroom ragu + Mash Potato + Garlic bread (Rs 239/-), Aglio Olio Spaghetti(Ra 199/-) & Classic BMT Sandwich (Rs 129/-) – All Veg!!!! On the day prior to the delivery I received a call from the owner Ms A, to confirm the order & inform the time of the delivery of the food.
Neatly packed & name tagged, the food was delivered on time.
Except for the sandwich, which was neatly packed in a butter paper & tied with a sutli (I liked the idea :)), the other dishes were in microwavable boxes. No leakage or spillage. And Now The Food –
Paneer Steak in mushroom ragu on Mash Potato & Garlic bread.
Slice of grilled paneer stuffed with sautéed mushrooms & spinach sauce placed in the center on the layer of mashed potato served with a thick creamy mushroom ragu & garlic toasts. I like to call them toasts as they are crisp like a rusk. The paneer was topped with the sauce was soft & the combination of mushroom & spinach was really good. But the best part of the mashed potato 😀 Melt-In-Mouth with really light flavours, my colleagues & me enjoyed it.
Aglio Olio spaghetti with yellow & green zucchini, mushrooms, peppers looked really appealing & tasted good too. But the amount of oil was a real let-down. 🙁
With prefect grill marks, cheese oozing out of the sandwich, thick slices of tomato & a strong basil flavor, this would have been a perfect sandwich only if the lower slice of the sandwich/panini would have remained a little crisp.
Yes, The Chicken Story serves veg food & does a good job at it.
With neat packaging, good quantity & ingredients, it’s VFM. So all vegetarians have something to look forward to from The Chicken Story.
