When Swarali Kulkarni – Mumbai Food Junkie introduced me to Pancho’s pav-bhaji I was honestly a little skeptical. I mean different types of pav-bhaji’s?? Honestly I was not too comfortable even with the thought. But when Sushant Hiray mentioned that he had tried it a while back & liked it, I decided to give it a shot.
Post my Bangalore visit; I reached-out to the owner of Pancho’s – Anil to check if we can have the pav-bhaji’s in my office in Andheri(e). Email with the order was sent across, once Anil confirmed. The delivery time was decided as 1:00 pm. Pancho’s branded boxes were delivered just a few min’s post 1:00 pm. Must say the delivery guy was happy delivering the food to us 🙂 (rare case)
Let me start with the packaging. One of the best I have seen.
Branded cardboard box with the details of the dish inside packed well. Open & you can actually see the effort put-in by the Pancho’s team to ensure you enjoy your meal. The bhaji is packed in a plastic box sealed with a plastic sheet which is easy to remove & ensuring no spillage at all. The buttered pav’s are wrapped in a separate small paper bag. Fine chopped onion along with a slice of lime is in a plastic box. What’s a pav-bhaji without butter? Amul Butter packet to the rescue. Another plastic has tissues, spoon & an after-mint. Big Big Thumbs Up for this.
Now the most important thing – The Food.
We started with the Veg Classic Pav Bhaji. Except for the fact that I would like the bhaji to be a little more thick, don’t have any other complaints. The other pav-bhaji’s included – Mushroom, Anda & Chicken.
The Mushroom Pav Bhaji was nice with mushroom’s added to the veg classic bhaji. People enjoyed the anda pav bhaji. One bite of the chicken pav bhaji & they loved it. Their expressions said it all. Chicken Pav Bhaji was a clear fav.
Another fav was the Tawa Pulav with Paneer Bhaji.
Perfect Mumbai style spicy, masaledaar tawa pulav. Would have liked raita with this. Will order this soon.
Ended the pav-bhaji with the gulab-jamun’s. Were too sweet for my taste, rest everyone enjoyed them. The size is small compared to the gulab-jamun’s you get outside.
Pancho’s was awarded the most popular food startup at #SmashUp.A great take on one of mumbai’s fav snack – pav bhaji. Based out of powai, they are a take-away place. Orders can be placed online/whatsapp. I would like the normal laadi-pav along with the bhaji instead of the pav used. Though they are nice & loaded with butter, nothing can replace the laadi-pav 🙂 Priced almost at-par with the restaurants around, the quantity & quality of the food is good. A great option for the carnivore’s to enjoy chicken & pav-bhaji at one go.
Thanks Swarali Kulkarni – Mumbai Food Junkie for the invite & Pancho’s for a good meal 🙂
